Ensight Skills Center: Creating Inclusive Communities in Northern Colorado

Ensight Skills Center empowers individuals with visual impairments. Through a combination of personalized training, community engagement, and advocacy, Ensight is not just offering services; it is fostering inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Vision and Mission

Ensight Skills Center was founded with a clear mission: To provide people with low vision the services and resources that empower independent and productive living. Ensight Skills Center is a 501©3 not-for-profit organization that provides visual rehabilitation. We are the only fully comprehensive low vision specialists in Colorado.

Comprehensive Services and Training Programs

Ensight offers a wide range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of its clients. These include:

  1. Low Vision Evaluations: Comprehensive assessments by optometrists specializing in low vision to determine the best aids and strategies for each individual.

  3. Orientation and Mobility Training: Guidance on safe and effective travel techniques, including the use of white canes and guide dogs, to help individuals navigate their surroundings confidently.
  4. Support Groups and Counseling: Emotional support and peer groups that offer a sense of community and shared experiences, helping clients cope with the challenges of vision loss.

Community Engagement and Outreach

Ensight Skills Center goes beyond individual services by actively engaging with the wider community to promote inclusivity and awareness. Some of their key initiatives include:

  1. Public Education Campaigns: Hosting workshops and presentations in schools, businesses, and community centers to raise awareness about visual impairments and the capabilities of those affected.

  3. Volunteer Programs: Encouraging community members to get involved through volunteer opportunities that support Ensight’s mission, from assisting with events to providing direct client support.
  4. Advocacy Efforts: Working to influence public policy and improve accessibility standards, ensuring that the needs of visually impaired individuals are considered in community planning and development.
